Five for Friday!

Happy Blue Friday friends!! I’m excited to hop back on the blog and do a little Five for Friday action! Thanks to Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching for hosting our favorite linky!!

Seriously?!?!?! Have you seen these sleeves???? It’s like the red holiday cups! That’s how excited I got when I saw these sleeves! So, in honor of Blue Friday…Go Hawks!!

I love living in Washington! We’ve got the beach, we’ve got the snowy mountains, we’ve got a rainforest…I love it! We spent part of Labor Day weekend at our family cabin on the coast. My kiddos LOVE the beach!
I mean what would a cabin trip be without some s’mores??? That’s our cabin in the background. My Great Grandpa built this cabin by hand and it has been passed down. I feel so blessed that my kiddos get to experience the cabin too:)

We spent our Monday of Labor Day weekend at the fair. I love going to the fair. We always go on the last day because usually there aren’t very many people there…NOT this year. Whoa! It was crowded…we still had a lot of fun and I got my Purple Cow, which is my favorite drink:)

This happened…by baby girl started Kindergarten! When did she get so big??? We took her to school and got her settled, then she told me “Okay momma you can go. I’m okay now…” WHAT?!?!? I managed to hold it together though…I mean mostly….mostly I held it together.

So last year I really hated my math block. I just felt like it was all me teaching and the kiddos listening. I really wanted it to be more individualized. This year I decided on guided math and I love it!! I will say that one of the reasons I think it is going so well is the fact that our first grade teachers are AH-MAZING! These kiddos can already work in groups and partners and be on task. Being able to focus on the needs of each student has really allowed them to click and I am already seeing some progress. I am hoping that the data I get will support this model because I really love it.

Here’s a look at my guided math board. I know it’s not super cute yet…but I’m just starting. As I figure it out I will be adding and adjusting. The kiddos can at least access the materials and see where they are supposed to be. I just wanted to dive in and get started.  #teachertruth

I hope that you all have a restful weekend:)

    Hi Lindsey!
Can't wait to go to the fair together next year! I LOVE the Seahawks cup sleeves. Those are awesome! Way to go Starbucks! I'm sure your data will support guided math… it's the best. I think your board looks great.

Is it bad that I want to go to Starbucks now just to get a Seahawks sleeve? I'm so excited you're trying guided math. I can't wait to read about how it goes!

Go get one Storie!!! You know they will go quick! I am so excited about math this year. I hope that it all goes well. It helps that I have a really good group…they let me focus on the process and not behaviors!

      Have a great day!
      Lindsey:)
