Five for Friday!!!!!

Happy Friday everyone!! It has been WAY to long…seriously I don’t think I’ve done a Five for Friday since school got out in June! Whaaattt!?!?!?! Thank you to Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching for this wonderful linky!

THIS boy turned 2 this week!! I can’t believe my baby is 2! This was the first birthday where he was excited to open his presents. We got him this IKEA circus tent and a Mickey Mouse chair. We put all his presents inside his tent. He had such a great time! We are having his pirate birthday party this weekend! We can’t wait!

We have been having a WONDERFUL summer here in the PNW! Yesterday was the first day we had a significant amount of rain since June 1st!!!! With this crazy, warm weather we have been outside playing everyday! When we aren’t at my mom’s in the pool…we are in the sprinkler! This is a second round of sprinkler play after dinner. Apparently she didn’t get enough to drink at dinner…

Well…I went back this week…. Normally, I avoid school from when we get out in June until we have to be back in August. This year I am trying to be on top of things. I brought these two helpers with me and we put out all the furniture. When I say “we” I mean “me.” The rest of “we” were talking on the fluency phones and hiding place value blocks around my room:)

We worked out little tushies off to get our guided reading packs done before the sale. Now, I can test them out on my daughter. She is going into Kindergarten in the Fall and we have been working hard this summer to get ready. These guided reading packs are great for her. She loves to do “work.” I don’t want to be a pusher, but as long as she keeps saying “Momma, I have to do my work today!” I will keep supplying the work:)

Now that we are done with our big project, the guided reading packs, I can get to my reading. Reading With Meaning is one of my FAVORITES!!! I read it each summer. I just finished No More Independent Reading  Without Support. It’s a great, quick read. I am half way through The Morning Meeting Book. I’ve read this one before but it’s been awhile. Last, I really want to revamp my math instruction. I have a HUGE stack of math books to read but Making Problems, Creating Solutions is first on my list:)

I hope that you are all having a fabulous summer! I’m off to relax before I have to get into full birthday party mode.

Your little helpers are adorable 🙂 This was my first week back with the kiddos. I also went two weeks early to set up my classroom and to be ahead of the ball game. But who am I kidding we never have enough time to do the things we want to do LOL. Good luck in setting up your classroom!

Isn't that the truth?!?!?! I wish they gave us enough days when we have to come back instead of having to go to meetings!! Thank you!

I've been bringing my son with me to work in my classroom too, but I'm not sure how much I get done with him there. Yesterday he spread Legos all over more floor and then broke up a granola bar to feed the Lego people. Needless to say, I now have to vacuum. Oh well. 🙂 By the way, your kids are so cute!

I can't get into my school until a couple of days before school starts. The upside is that daycare will have started. I remember bringing my daughter in when she was a tiny baby– always tried to have her take a nap and then I would work.

Love your book choices. Let us know how they are!

We are lucky that we are able to go in any time in the summer to work, except the couple days when they are waxing the floor. At least you don't have the guilt of feeling like you should go in when you don't want to! Hope you have a great year:)

My daughter tries out my products, too. She usually balks but then has fun once she gets started. My daughter helped by washing my chalkboard yesterday! She did a pretty good job. My kids love the sprinkler. We just leave it set up. It's so nice to just turn it on and let them run (and get drinks). 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your summer.

It's so great to have a little tester! She loves to help me wrk. I have to take advantage of it because I know soon she won't want to anymore! Thank you!
