Five For Friday

Hey everyone! We are linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching again this week for a little Five for Friday. So here is a little peek at my week.

My week started off wonderful! My little boy turned one! Time sure does fly and even though I am sad that he is growing up, I am excited for him to become more mobile and independent. He isn’t a full fledged walker yet but he is soooo close!

We just had a small, family only party but it was a good one. Check out that cake! I made that all by myself thanks to Pinterest!

My nightmares started this week. After the first night, where I had a dream that I got stuck at Starbucks and I couldn’t get to school on time for Back to School night, I thought maybe this is just a fluke? Maybe they aren’t really starting???? W.R.O.N.G. I have had one every night this week! This gave me a kick in the pants to start working on stuff. I have been changing the colors of my room which is requiring me to make some new decor pieces that I have been avoiding so, that’s the first thing I started with.

This is what I have done so far. A new welcome sign for the door, pieces for a new job chart as well as a class helpers sign, new learning target posters and finally a parent flip book, another idea from Pinterest! Now I need to laminate all the pieces and copy the flip book on some bright paper. I am feeling better that I have gotten some stuff done. Maybe this will make the nightmares go away??????? Am I that lucky????

To go along with number 2, my mom and I took our annual trip to Lakeshore and Ikea this week. It amazes me that we go every year, and every year I still find so much to buy! At Lakeshore, I just stocked up on smelly stickers, my kids LOVE them, and other staples. I did find these two things:

How cute are these letters?!?!?! For the past few years I have had my kiddos make their name tags and I put a little paper on them that they use to track their behavior score each day. This year I made a new behavior clip chart to use, so I found these SUPER cute name tags! I’m pretty excited about them!

At Ikea I found these super cute frames that I am going to spray paint to match my room and put behind my desk on a bookshelf. They were $3.00! Can’t beat that!

Here are the rest of my finds. Now that I’m not in a portable, the kids shouldn’t be bringing in as much sand which is why I chose this new rug. The stools are for my computers and who can resist those frames??? The green storage tubs are my favorite. I already have a bunch in blue so I am excited that they have green now!

Right after school got out this year our district had some presenters come and present to us. I learned A LOT of cool things but my FAVORITE new piece of knowledge…abebooks.com! Have you checked this place out?!?!?!?!? ADDICTING! They are all used books and they are at cheap prices! A lot of the books ship for free. I have probably ordered 25 different books so far and I haven’t had a bad one yet.

These are the only two I have left at home. The rest I have already taken to school but look at how awesome they are! Anytime I can get cheap books I get pretty excited!!!

Finally, this week was the big sale!! We want to thank everyone who helped us have a great sale and for all the support. We truly hope that our resources are helpful to all those that purchased them. We are currently working on adding A and B passages to our Fall Passages bundle. So if that is one you purchased stay tuned this week for a new revised version to download. As a big thank you we uploaded 2 freebies to our Facebook. We hope that you enjoy them and can find a way to use them with your students at the beginning of the year. Click HERE or on the picture to check them out.

We hope that everyone has a great week!!

Wow. You found some great stuff! You've been super busy, and your new decor looks great. I hope your nightmares cease! I usually have at least one before school starts. Last year I dreamed that I was standing in front of my class, which was huge! Several of the students in front of me were challenging students from previous years. And… in the dream I had NOTHING AT ALL planned! I was just standing there with no idea what to teach. Yikes.

I have had that same dream!!!! Most of my dreams are about not being ready or being disorganized! I hope you don't get any bad dreams this year!

Thanks for passing along the info about AbeBooks! I need to order a bunch of Chris Van Allsburg unit so the two at our level who teach ELA have 2 copies of each of his books. This will save A LOT of money!

My advice is to also check Amazon because sometimes the prices are cheaper, especially for newer books. Once you start shopping there it will be hard to stop:)

I have a friend that tried to make a flip book like yours and changed it to a tri-fold eventually! Yours looks great! I LOVE your blue-green combinations!
